One can list whatever pros one thinks are possible.

The one con I'll list is obvious - the certainty of sexual abuse and rape.

To a thinking, compassionate human with any sense of ethics and morality, that should end the discussion.

Its hard enough to control the inmate population in same-sex prison facilities.

Putting both sexes together, would probably cause more trouble than the guards can control. But it might cut down on the guard-and-inmate sexual contacts.

Interesting to note, that back in the days of Charles Dickens, the British would put entire families into prison if the father did someting wrong (like not paying the family debts).

No. My opinion is that there would be a higher rate of STDs and HIV/AIDS among inmates if males and females were in the same facilities.

That is asking for trouble. While there will definitely be both male and female inmates who welcome the idea, there will also be those who become victims. It will possibly increase drugs, sex, and consequently crime, among both inmates and guards.

Well then there would be no gay sex so I guess thats pro..ha no but seriously, they are there to be punished. Too much hooking up would be going on and fights could arise from that. "Hey you lookin' at my woman?" *punch*

No, there will be took much hanky panky going on, between prisoners and prisoners, and guards and prisoners. They are still men and women.
