It takes longer to heal than say an earing piercing because of the thicker cartilage in the middle later. Maybe it isn't so much cartilage but it is a more fibrous layer than the fleshy part of the lobe. Also, the nose ring area is in a place more likely to get bumped by blowing your nose or wiping your nose.

Because you have mucous membranes in your nose that are very sensitive. Blowing your nose--touching the ring in your nose and stuff irritates it. Use saline solution and you will be fine.

I don't know, but I've had mine for two months and I still get scabs in there. Gross.
