No...I don't think they are real, though there are obviously some who are cleverer than others, able to deduce from observation and careful questioning information about their client which would give them some clues as to what the future may hold.
It's a branch of psychology, if you like, with the sound of silver tinkling across palms.
It's no worse than people who do horoscopes or tarot cards etc.

Fortune Tellers. The ones that out around asking for a lot of your money for a reading and bragging and selling themselves are frauds. There are so many of these. The 1 800 numbers are definately fake. Most of these make up random things, such as you will fall in love or you will trip and fall, because these things happen to a lot of people.
There are many people who really can "tell fortunes" though they actually use divination, like through tarot cards, scrying, etc. Check out http://www.themystica.com/mystica/pages/divination.html

There are real fortune tellers and there are fake ones. You have to be really careful in going to the right person. Your life history was already written thousands of years ago. There are written documents. Most of it is lost but there is a huge collection of people's life history available. You just have to go and check if yours is there. Its kept in a place in India. I don't know the exact location. They just have deep knowledge--deeper than you can imagine. You just have to go to the right person. You will find good fortune tellers in India. But I say, why do u want to know your future? You lose all the excitement. Its better when you don't know certain things.

Most people who see things and help others do not call themselves "fortune tellers".
You can't necessarily tell someones "fortune" - you can tell them what might happen in the future if the person keeps going on the same path as they are on now.
Anything is changeable, especially if known about ahead of time.

Fortune Tellers exist, but they're not necessarily magical or anything. To a large existence, it's simply a matter of foresight and ambiguity.

A true so called fortune teller would never charge for their services. So for any that does they are not for real and they enjoy conning and or scamming people out of their money thru trick and smoke and mirrors and thru a fake seance.......................

It's not so much that they make stuff up and lie to get money, it's more that the good ones are skillful at sizing a person up, getting information about them, and telling them what they want to hear.

I just think most of them are con artists trying to get gullible people's money. I don't believe in the devil junk.

some of them are. here's how to identify the real ones with special powers: they are damn ugly ( they either have too many wrinkles or some ugly skin disease) its true !! every true psychis i watched in the discovery channel that help in crime investigation are really really ugly looking people, but they have powers.
Ugly skin disease is always cursed upon them for revealing the secrets of the future. Im serious ! just be observing, u will know what i mean. they are somehow cursed with skin disease or very very torn bad wrinkles. hideous.
