Similar to Bleach would be Boogiepop Phantom and Vampire Princess Miyu (there is an OVA series and a TV series. If you like Bleach you'd probably like the TV series more then the OVA and more then Boogiepop Phantom).
If you want to get into Anime,.. WATCH RANMA 1/2!!! People currently are limited to Cartoon Network and completely unaware of what good Anime was. Some other roots are Akira the movie,.. that is what what some people were introduced to as being labled " Anime" for the first time,.. even if they saw other anime before then but they didn't know the name. You will either Love or Hate Akira (likely you won't care because you have been exposed to so much anime).
There is a really (oddly) informational anime called Haunted Junction that was really good. If you want to keep running with school like then you'll want to see Here is Greenwood. If you want to run with Anime series that have long lived fan base,.. look into Orange Road (I can't remember the full name) (I didn't like it,.. it was boreing). If you want humanizeing look into His & Her's Circumstances.
I could go on.

umm not sure on the similarity part because bleach has a lot of switching in the show itself. But if you havent seen alot of the episodes of bleach you can watch alot of them at www.keiichianimeforever.com , or go to www.bleachportal.net, they have all the released episoded at bleachportal. Note: I am just a fan and i love bleach.

Rurouni Kenshin is a good one. I think it's 96 episodes (or somewhere close). You can buy it off of ebay pretty cheap (as you can with most anything).
