i own a repair shop, and is it possible you may have had some on your hands ,because unless its leaking or you have a small hole in the tank you shouldn't be smelling it like that,, id check and see if the smell was on something maybe that you touched,it can take gas a long time to stop smelling, but if not you might want to have it checked out,it may have a small leak in it somewhere,,good luck,i hope this help,s.

If you OVERfilled the tank, as in "Top-Off", there is a good chance that you "Flooded the EVAP canister. Until it manages to purge ALL of the fuel, you will have to put up with it.
There is also a good chance that if it IS flooded, that is is damaged beyond its ability to clear itself, in which case you may need to replace it.
there is also a good chance that some of the carbon may have been moved into the EVAP vacuum and purge pathways, and now restrict the EVAP purge control.
If it hasn't damaged the system beyond repair, after driving for another week or so, it should clear up.

Good Luck and Merry Christmas
