Wow that sucks. There isnt an HR department you can go to and tell them about the workers harrassing you? I cant believe they can get away with persecuting you like that for your political beliefs.
If there is really no one there who can make them knock it off and act like adults, I would just start looking for another job. Your boss shouldnt laugh at it either obviously. You should record what they say though, buy a mini recorder and carry it around with you and every time they make a slanderous harrassing remark record it and take it to HR so you have proof of what they are doing.

I think, if you really want to hang onto your job, and you feel you have to try and quiet them, your best bet to deal with it is to shame them into silence, using humor to keep it light.
Work up few phrases, like, "Wow, I haven't had so many people picking on me since I was teacher's pet in grade school," or, "Damn, I didn't know Wisconsin was a southern state!" or " Should I just wear a "Kick me, I'm a traitor" sign to work every day so you guys can get this out of your systems?" You get the idea. You'll have a better idea of what will make them realize they're acting like schoolyard bullies, without making them more angry at you.
Better yet, however, you should probably just let it go. There will no doubt be some who will throw it up at you every chance they get, for as long as you work there, but for most of them it will probably eventually fade away.
It's funny how, if you work side by side with someone, and they're a good person and a good worker, you can't help but respect and/or like them, even if they're poles apart from you politically. They'll get over it. Do your job, thicken up your skin, let it roll off of you, and it will get better.
Or, move to Seattle! We libs are in the majority here!

The more you let it get to you and the more you let others know it bothers you...the more it will be brought up. Just act as if you could care less any time someone brings it up. If that is not your cup of tea, learn some more about democrat and republican activity in your area, point out when republicans have made a mistake, continue with your points, doing ever tell someone to shut up, this means you lose, you have lost your temper. Make them feel like they are wrong, but back it up with proof. I am a republican and conservative, but would not engage in name calling due to someones political affiliation, I would do just what I advised you.

Oh, man - I really feel for you. I'm in a similar situation, but I'm the conservative (actually libertarian mostly) and I work with some VERY radical far-left people. I had people walking up to me and yelling at me about whatever Bush did that day that pissed them off. I got so frustrated and angry, but my solution won't help you a bit. I finally made sure word got around that if anyone wanted to ***** at me about politics, I was going to talk to them about Jesus. It hasn't been a problem since. I know that doesn't really help you, just felt a need to share I guess.
Have you tried talking to them about how it makes you feel? Of course, people who would treat a co-worker like crap just because of their political views probably wouldn't care. Would it be very difficult for you to find another job?
I think this sucks and I really am sorry you have to deal with this. Good luck to you.

Put a written complaint into the company. Hopefully you have a human resources person. Better yet mail it certified, that way it has to be signed for to be accepted. You have a receipt, make a copy of the complaint for your records. You will at least have a written trail if you need to seek legal counsel. It sounds like you need to prepare yourself for the worst. Either you or them will blow up one day and then they got you for being a cancer.

And more than likely its a non-union plant as well. Just tell them that you believe that they are the traitors of the constitution and that real Americans defend it and not allow it to be watered down...or else just take the abuse, talk to H.R. (again more than likely a republican) or find a another job, its a shame you are surrounded by morons.

The problem is not actually your politics, it's that they know where
your goat is tied up.
I am a Republican and a conservative and I find it appalliing that
people actually do things like taht.
But had you not said anything after the name calling started, they
probably have given up after a few weeks.
Ignore them. Don't let them get your goat.
