I have a new CD that doesn't say 'compact disc', it says HDCD. What is that? Why can't iTunes rip its music?

It plays fine on a CD player tho.

High Definition Compact Disk

Several CDs are copy-protected: they include a software that blocks ripping programs. Those who are copy-protected normally indicate so on the box or on the little book. Most CDs don't include this software yet, but its use is increasing.

There's literally a war between programmers of CD rippers and programmers of CD protections.

iTunes is usually only compatible with apple...I think
