Are there side effects with Lexapro? Not everyone has the same side effects if any at all, Everyone's body is different. Here is a website where I found some information about it.http://www.lexapro.com/english/faq/lexapro.aspx
Lexapro is well tolerated by most people. The most commonly reported side effects of Lexapro are nausea, insomnia, problems with ejaculation, somnolence, increased sweating, fatigue, decreased libido, and anorgasmia. Most of the side effects experienced by patients taking Lexapro are mild to moderate and go away with continued treatment, and usually do not cause patients to stop taking Lexapro.
This doesn't say anything about fertility, you may want to ask your doctor about it does talk about how it affects sex drive. You can click on the website for more FAQ's.

Well I've been on it for a week today, for anxiety/panic attacks. I'm on very low dose because I'm hypersensitive to these kinds of meds. My doctor tried me on about five other types of anti-depressant/ anti-anxiety drugs but I had to stop because I couldn't tolerate the side-effects (nausea, fatigue, brain fog) Lexapro however seems to be the only one I have hardly any side effects with! It's great. I feel abit thirstier than usual and initially abit nauseas but definately tolerable and decreasing each day. Apparantly this new medication has been formed by taking half a molecule of another medication for depression that combats the problem, but leaving the other half molecule resposible for the common side efects. All I can say is talk to your doctor and give it a whirl if you need to, what have you got to lose- if it doesn't agree with you just taper off. I haven't heard about it having anything to do with fertility though. Anti-depressants aren't addictive by the way, and each persons genetic, metabolic structure is different so side effects vary from person to person as does the drugs effectiveness. I havent felt any major changes as yet but it can take up to 6 weeks to see the benefits of anti-depressants. My friend was on Zoloft for about 6 months during a difficult time and had no side effects but Zoloft made me so sick I couldn't drive. Don't assume you will react (if at all) to a medication like others do. And give St Johns Wort a try...clinical studies have shown that it acts in the same way as an anti-depressant but is natural and has less side effects - I would have liked to have tried it but it's about 30$ a bottle so it's cheaper for me to go with a prescription. Hopefully St Johns will get on the PBS some day...bloody Howard!
Good luck.

My son, age 29 is on Lexapro and he has had NO side effects but ppl have different reactions to medications. It has done him a world of good so I would suggest taking it if prescribed by a doctor. If you see or feel any side effects just call your doctor.

You may have an increased risk of suicidal thoughts or behavior at the start of treatment with an antidepressant medication, especially if you are under 18 years old. Talk with your doctor about this risk. While you are taking Lexapro you will need to be monitored for worsening symptoms of depression and/or suicidal thoughts during the first weeks of treatment, or whenever your dose is changed. In addition to you watching for changes in your own symptoms, your family or other caregivers should be alert to changes in your mood or symptoms. Your doctor will need to check you at regular visits for at least the first 12 weeks of treatment.
Contact your doctor promptly if you have any of the following side effects, especially if they are new symptoms or if they get worse: mood changes, anxiety, panic attacks, trouble sleeping, irritability, agitation, aggressiveness, severe restlessness, mania (mental and/or physical hyperactivity), thoughts of suicide or hurting yourself. Do not take Lexapro together with a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) such as isocarboxazid (Marplan), phenelzine (Nardil), rasagiline (Azilect), selegiline (Eldepryl, Emsam), or tranylcypromine (Parnate). You must wait at least 14 days after stopping an MAOI before you can take Lexapro. After you stop taking Lexapro, you must wait at least 14 days before you start taking an MAOI. SSRI antidepressants may cause serious or life-threatening lung problems in newborn babies whose mothers take the medication during pregnancy. However, you may have a relapse of depression if you stop taking your antidepressant during pregnancy. If you are planning a pregnancy, or if you become pregnant while taking Lexapro, do not stop taking the medication without first talking to your doctor.

I took lexapro for 2 years. I had no side affects. The only thing I noticed when I took it was certain things didn't bother me as much as they used too.
