Baths are absolutely ok. The only things to keep in mind with baths are: keep the temp warm, not hot, and keep the time you sit in there to around 10 minutes which is a good time to keep your body from overheating (the overheating is more serious when you are in your first trimester because the heat can cause defects and fetal death, but is still somewhat serious later as well). you can stay in a little longer if you keep your entire upper body out of the water as it takes longer to get hot.
as your belly grows, be CAREFUL getting in and out!! your stomach muscles don't work as well, if at all!!!
if your bag of water has broken, stay out of the bath. while unlikely, water could get up there and cause infection.

So who told you not to take baths? It is perfectly ok to take a bath while pregnant as long as you keep the water temperature at or under 100 degrees. We have moms taking baths during labor, and many babies are born in the water with no problems for either baby or mom. I would avoid any things like bubble baths and perfumed oils since these can increase the chance of vaginal and bladder infections, but other than that - go for it. If you want a bath there is no reason to NOT take one.

Because the placenta automatically regulates the temp in the womb but in a bathtub of such hot temperatures, it has a hard time doing so and your womb may actually get too hot. Of course your water would have to be hot tub warm and you'd have to sit in it long after you felt uncomfortable. Take your baths, just keep it at a warm but not piping hot temp. The only time that changes is if your water breaks.. no baths at all then.

Baths are prefectly safe as long as you use warm water and not hot water, Baths will actually ease some of those pregancy pains.
Somebody told me once that when your close to birth you are not supposed to because the water can get up in there and cause infection but that's not true.............

Well, I was told that it is okay to take a bath. Infact, its very relaxing to take a bath. Just make sure its not too hot. Although, your body will tell you when the water is too hot.

Baths are fine as long as your bag of waters have not ruptured and the bath is not too hot. Stay out of hot tubs that are set too high though.

Where did you hear that?
Wherever you heard it, it's wrong. Pregnant women are very much free to take baths. They do advise against taking very hot baths though. Other than that, there's nothing wrong with it.
