Utah. You get the best of both worlds--mountains and snow up north, gorgeous canyons and warmth further south. You can start in Salt Lake to ski or snowboard. Maybe catch a Jazz game or visit Temple Square. Then drive 4-5 hours south to hike one of the great national parks like Zions or Arches.
