My delevery time is 7:00am but they told me to be there at 5:00am. Does anyone know what goes on those two hours before?

Yes...basically it's for any paper work they haven't had you already fill out. Also to prep you for the surgery, make sure you have no allergic reactions to any meds etc...and then they usually make you wait...Sometimes the doctor may be delievering another baby and you'll at least be there...I think it's better than being at home pacing!! I've had 2 emergency c-sections...so paper work was done AFTER my sons were born!!! Best of luck to you!!!

Even if you've registered they will have a few papers for you to sign. They'll have you shower and use a special scrub to wash your body from the chest down in preparation for the surgery. You'll get dressed in a hospital gown, they'll hook up your iv, they'll put those belts on you to monitor for contractions and the baby's heartbeat, and they might give you any oral meds (like antibiotics etc) they want you to have before the procedure begins. You'll meet with the anestesiologist and he'll talk to you about your medical history to determine what drugs he'll use in your spinal (or whatever they do for you). You'll probably meet briefly with your doctor right before it's time. You wait around a little and then the nurse will take you to the OR. There they give you your spinal (or whatever) and prep you for the surgery. That's pretty much how mine went, except there was a bit more waiting because the OR was tied up so we had to wait for it to be free again. Just in case no one tells you, after the surgery it's a really good idea to change positions frequently (every 15 minutes or so). You don't want to hold still for long periods at a time or your muscles will stiffen up and it will be harder to move. Take lots of short walks after too. Both of these things help you to heal faster and have an easier recovery. Good Luck with your c-section!

In the 2 hours prior to your scheduled C-Section, the nurses will insert an IV and a catheter, have anesthesia called to get your epidural ready and in, and then you will just hang out till the doc is ready for you! If you are scheduled most likely you will have all your paperwork done at a Pre Op Testing appointment, this is where they will monitor your blood pressure, pulse, O2 and a few other things! Good luck to you!

They monitor you, do some blood work, hook you up to an i.v and insert a catheter. You will also do your paperwork, "registration" if you haven't already. As for preparing before you go, try to get some sleep. And if you can 't sleep, make casseroles and freeze them. Do all the laundry you can and make sure you have all your supplies ready. Make it a "party" and have friends and family come over to help out. Good luck and congratulations!

It is a lot of paper work, preparing you for the c-section, which is considered an operation (sort of), it is also monitoring the baby, making sure everything is going well. I have gone threw it also. You will be fine. Lots of luck w/the little one.

Registration, a whole lot of waiting and surgery prep. It'll be over before you know it. Good luck!

Signing forms, consent for surgery, getting you to your room and getting you comfortable, things like that. There'll be a little bit of waiting as well and then before ya know it you're a mom :-)
