As a responsible pet owner, you have a duty to take your dogs outside in order for them to pee and poop. Training only goes so far. They wait and wait and can not hold it any longer. Emma and Andy finally say, "To hell with her, let's piss on her carpet." I guess do what some of the other people reccomend to remove the stinch. Good Luck. Emma and Andy - I will let you out when I come over next.

Hi
For just a few spots

Nature’s Miracle should work. It is available at Petsmart. Make sure you follow the direction. The main reason that it fails is that people just sprays it on and wipe it up and not let it soak into the carpet and pad like the urine did. You may need to do this 2 or 3 time. Just reminder that the urine treatment product needs to go where the urine went for it to work properly. After you clean the spots, you should shampoo the carpet using this product on the front and back of rug.

For really bad urine smell

First thing you need to know is that urine is classified as carpet damage. 90 % of the urine sits in the under pad and that is the hardest to remove. This is the reason you smell it when you wet it. In most cases if you can smell it it’s pass the point of treating from the surface. To clean it properly it is a fairly big job

Things you will need: carpet-cleaning machine.
Chemical for removing urine I recommend (Nature's Miracle is a liquid containing enzymes that feed on the organisms that give urine its odours.), which you can buy at a pet store. (Some people have use vinegar (one part vinegar to five parts water)

New under pad for the carpet

1/ lift the carpet where you think the urine is. You can tell from the bottom side of the carpet by the watermarks. You will need to extract the backside of the carpet with the urine remove treatment product.
2/ cut out the entire infected under pad and wash the floor with the urine treatment.
3/replace the under pad with the new stuff
4/ as you are laying the carpet back down treat the top of the carpet with the urine treatment.
5/ When the carpet is all back you will need to clean the all of the carpet with the urine treatment product. Just reminder that the urine treatment product needs to go where the urine went for it to work properly.
In my experience, Nature's Miracle is your best bet. Good luck!

Test a spot on your carpet with Fantastic to make sure it does not fade the carpeting. Spray the spots on the carpet with enough fantastic to make sure it is wet and use a fingernail brush to scrub the spots.Take a damp rag and wipe the area. It will lift the spots off the carpet. We do this all the time as I work for a kennel. The females that are ready to have babies are brought into the house.
Of course you can buy a carpet cleaner and use Bissell rug shampoo with pet odor and stain removal formula that works also.

If you catch it soon, soda water, not tonic water.......all over the spot and then blot up with tissues. Take about a 1/2" worth at a crack and sop it back up. Keep sopping several times. The with tissue, squeeze each carpet fiber......argh!

Enzyme cleaners are OK too, Lord knows I use about a gallon here every two months.....I've got barfy, poopy and peeing dogs too.

Now realize, the stink can penetrate the mat underneath. In that case cut out the stained area, remove the pad, cut a replacement pad from carpeting in the closet (who looks close there??) and replace carpet or use the patch cut in closet and put the stained carpet back over the closet spot.

If the stink has penetrated to the wood underneath, you need to seal the wood underneath with a stain sealer....or replace the wood planks involved.

You probably need a chemical that is designed to kill the enzymes from the urine. You can go to the pet isle or the where the rent carpet machines

Train your dog to prevent more mishaps.
Try taking your dog out every hour or two at least.
If you have accidents try washing with a solution of biological washing powder. Use something like shake and vac after the carpet has dried after washing.

I have 3 dogs and have that problem. I haven't found anything worth while except some stuff at Petsmart. It comes by the gallon and you use it in your shampooer. I cant think of the name of it but its in a white jug and runs about $13. I believe it has a couple of cats and dogs on it. Natures Miracle thats what its called.
