I'm going to be honest with you. If it's due on Monday, you don't have time to conduct an actual science experiment that's going to be worth a crap. Here's how you can wing it.

Smoking deteriorates the olfactory glands, so people who smoke cannot smell things as strongly or distinctly as non-smokers. Say that you've asked several smokers and non-smokers to identify several substances, such as alcohol, orange juice, latex gloves, etc. Say that you blindfolded them beforehand so that they would not know what they were smelling. Also ask them to rate each smell as a 5 for "strong scent" and 1 for "weak scent." Document your smokers as having lower number ratings on the strength of the smells and as not being able to correctly identify the samples 100% of the time. If you use charts and such, which are easily created in Word, you can make this look impressive. You can make it look like you're illustrating the effects of smoking on the olfactory glands. If you're having to use one of those huge presentation boards, you can print some .gif files of cartoon noses to hang around for decoration.

How about finding the best red vegetable dye for white cotton? You could try beets, berries, different roots, -----. Or try to find the best brown dye -- use tea, bark, fallen leaves, etc. You should use washed white cotton and sink the material in the hot dye bath that you have prepared. Let material dry, then heat set it by using an iron. then compare colors and decide which one you like best. Your control could be packaged Rit dye --- it would be fun and inexpensive and quick. Have fun!!
