Getting shot by your dad because that's the person that helped give you life and should appreciate it the most. However, if that person was mental and had something wrong psychologically then it would be ashamed but a bit of an excuse.

shot by your dad that seems a little more personal like he has been holding a grudge against you for something the mental kid probrably doesn't even know who you are or why he is beating you up
