Have the Mariners simply decided that they have no interest in Barry Zito because of his expected salary demands?

yes and I don't blame them..he's not as dominate as he use to be..he's very overrated and the asking price is way too high..

i'm a cardinals fan but i l'm from seattle. these guys saying zito isn't good the last couple of years are crazy. crazy, i tell ya!

he does have poor outings sometimes. but he never gets injured and the lack of arm problems thus far is appealing. plus lefties are always at a premium. he'll get massively overpaid like every baseball player does now, but he won't be a mariner.

do the m's need him?? oh yes. not only for their benefit but to stick it to the a's a little. zito ringing up the a's batters in a mariners uniform would be huge in helping seattle reclaim some bragging rights in the al west.

but the m's are just too cheap. they continually fail to improve the club. they have the money, but they pocket it rather than spend it (adrian beltre being the exception)

He is not that good. he will get at least $17 a year from the mets. waste of money.

I think it's that as well as he hasn't performed that well in a couple of years.
