I know for sure they work very hard, and they should get paid well, but i think their money is too much!! why don't doctors and teachers get paid as much? Who pays celebrities and how?

A friend of mine told me yesterday about an actor who was paid $20 million for one movie. He couldn't believe it. He thought it was unfair. I explained to him that movies (and TV shows) are businesses. They are 'for profit' corporations. The actors are paid on how much money their face/name will draw at the box office.
If this person stars in a movie that costs $30 million to make, and this person gets paid $20 million, and the movie draws $200 million, then $20 million really isn't that much in the grand scheme of things.

The reason celebrities get paid so much is because of the high grossing industy they are in. Movies make millions so they can afford to pay the actors millions. There are fewer "big" actors so people like Ben stiller, Cameron Diaz and others are in high demand in this industry. And one movie will gather income from florida to california to canada. A single doctor does not have that widespread of an effect on the population. And there income is based on a smaller group base. Same thing with professional sports.

I don't think they get paid all that much considering how much they go through to entertain us. The people who are way over paid are the baseball and football players and the hockey and soccer players are catching up.

i agree with you celebrities do get paid WAY too much. the people pay the celebrities, we go see the movies, we buy the cds etc.

I'm in. They are way overpaid. Add the sports figures to the list. How about spreading some of that around - I agree, teachers, doctors how about we add firefighters and police officers who put it on the line for us everyday. Where is the comparison?

Some are so over the edge for nothing like Paris Hilton but it's always nice to pay for some talents like Sara Brightman.

I do. Sponsors contribute to the pay of celebrities and that adds to the cost consumers pay.

i think that celebrities are way overrated and over paid and that some just need to go away! (like Paris Hilton and Britney Spears, and "k-fed"....just gahhh)
