Unfortunately, Quebec is still part of Canada.

No, absolutely not. What Harper has done is to recognize Quebec as a nation in itself, but within a Confederation of Nations which Canada is. For a long time, it was known as The Confederation of Canada, then the Commonwealth of Canada and now, The Dominion of Canada.Aboriginal peoples are also recognized as a nation within Canada and there is no difference here.

Quebec is still a part of Canada, the declaration of nation within a united Canada is not legally binding. It is little more than a fancy title to make the Quebecois feel special.

Its still part of Canada, but its now a nation in canada heh. Kind of like how Indians are viewed up here, as being a nation within a nation. Its just an idea to keep the seperatists happy, it is going to come back and bite Harper in the butt tho I think.

Technically, it still is. Harper's just giving them a name to shut them up for another year or two. According to all the articles I've read, this won't affect Quebec-Ontario/Newfoundland borders, no change in economy...just a name. However, I can also see this little event opening up a new can of worms in the future. Way to go, Stephen, you Conservative hippie.

It sounds like wind, to me, but I always did think Quebec was less part of Canada than Lousiana is part of the US, and Louisiana is all Napoleonic Code, etc., too. But it's ours.
