When my children were 18, 15, and 12 and I had been on birth control pills for 11 years I got pregnant. I did not have any normal pregnancy symptoms only a painful stomach whenever I ate. My doctor thought I had Irritable Bowel Syndrome. When we finally figured out what was really wrong with me an ultrasound showed I was 17 weeks pregnant. I took a daily birth control pill that entire time, but stopped the day I found out I was pr. The risk to a developing baby from birth control pills is actually quite small. My doctor was more concerned that I was also taking high blood pressure medication and had taken medication for migraine headaches. I developed Gestational Diabetes as well. I was monitored closely throughout my pregnancy. We had some delivery complications when I had a cervix softening gel insertion. I was a week past my due date and they didn't want me to go much longer. I had a bad reaction to the gel and began having 6 minute contractions which put the baby in distress. Everything worked out though. My kids are now 27, 25, 22, and 9.

I was taking Ortho Tri-cyclen when I got pregnant with my last child. I actually had a "feeling" that I was pregnant before I even missed a period. So, I took a HPT and it was a very faint positive. I went to the local health dept. and they confirmed that I was pregnant. I quit taking the BC when I got the faint positive at home. It didn't affect my baby at all and he was born very healthy. Hope this helps!!

My sister did not find out she was pregnant until 24 weeks of pregnancy. She continued to have a regular cycle and not gain weight, it was until she went in for a yearly check up that the doctor noticed.
