What do you think of the name Rio for a baby? I was thinking it could be for either gender, but I really like it for a girl. What do you think about it? If you like it, which gender would you prefer it on? Thanks a whole lot!

For middle names we were thinking:

Rio Evan
Rio Celeste

I am honestly not too fond of it, for a girl or a boy....again, its the Duran Duran thing. Also, it is a name that won't age well. It may be ok for a kid, but can you imagine a grown man named Rio? Or a 50 year old woman named Rio? Just doesn't make sense to me. I would go with a classy yet not over-used name, like Helena, for a girl (pronounced Ha LAY' na) or Barrett for a boy..Just my opinion.

Rio...that's a cute name! Sounds like a boys name though seeing as it ends in an 'o'.

Rio is a pretty name. It does sound more like a boy's name, though. My ex-husband's 2nd wife named their daughter Rhiannon & they call her Rhi (pronounced "Ree"). Work with the name & try to figure out how kids could mutilate it in order to pick on Rio. Rhea is a pretty name too. (Think Rhea Perlman from "Cheers". She was Carla.)

Good name for a girl!
By the way, Kendra and Hayley are not "uncommon".
If you like the name Rio go with it and don't let people change your mind!
