The people in Dreseden were very thankful for the huge amount of money the British people, especially in Coventry Dresden's sister city in Britain, which suffered a similar fate in WW II, spent for the reconstruction of the destroyed buildings. A son of a former RAF pilot forged a golden cross for the rebuilt Frauenkirche for example and members of the royal family were present when the church reopened.
This is what counts now!
Germany and Britain were enemies in the war but since then apologies were made and accepted on both sides and what happened in the war is not forgotten but forgiven and the two countries became friends. (except for football games of course!)

I would...wouldn't you. But don't forget the US pounded Dresden during the day, while the Brits fire bombed at night. It cracks me up that the Luftwaffe was singled out for war crimes for their bombing campaigns...which pale in comparison to the bombing campaigns waged against Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan.
Dresden was completely unnecessary. And in fact harmed a good many Allied POW's who were being moved through Dresden ahead of the advancing Russians.
Interestingly, many Germans do not harbor ill will towards the Allies and in fact seem to accept that they reaped what they sowed in the Second World War.
I also had the opportunity to work with a German VP of an electronics firm who was a child during the WWII and told me how he and his friends would watch the bomber streams head towards Munich. They would watch the incidieries fall and would collect the unexploded ones and use them as tubes for launching homemade rockets. I found that completely fascinating. Kids are always kids no matter the inhumanity going on around them.

I m sorry but this is a common misconception let me clear it up NOT ALL GERMANS ARE NAZIS!!!! My family was from east germany and came to america after and before the war. And in third grade I had to pay the price for saying what side of Germany my family was from for a week some kids were afraid to talk to me. It was WW2 people need to look toward the future and not hold as big of grudges. Im not saying stop the fight against local nazi parties for they should still be stopped but people need to look and look to improve more recent wars.

I am frequently fascinated when someone comes up with something like this as the questions indicates a certain tunnel vision against the British, or the US for that matter for reacting to Germany and Japan in WWII. Germany bombed the crap out of London and other cities and sank passenger ships and did all kinds of things that were horrible. Military leaders often say that the only humane action in war is to bring it to a close as quickly as possible. I can see that logic. Wars are not about sparring and gentlemen out there dueling, its about brining the wholesale death of war to a close for each day it goes on more poeple die, including noncombatants. The question suggests a certain prejudice or predisposition against the Allies war efforts so let me pose another question that should interest people who think the Allies or Americans were too rough in WWII. How come the Japanese were not punished for the atrocities they committed in WWII to the Chinese and also the widespread murder of US and British POWs in the Pacific? How come a country that wienies often call racist and awful did not impose the same punishments on the Japanese for their actions? Many POWS and their stories in countless books recount the horrible conduct of the Japanese and yet our left wing wackies go float paper boats on the anniversary of Hiroshima and say how embarassed they are. War is hell, close it out quickly and less people die.

The fire bombing of Dresden was done in retaliation for the bombing and V1 & V2 attacks on London. I think that there is probably a lot of ill will on both sides.

FDR & Churchill committed War Crimes against helpless German women and children.
It was a crime against humanity.
They knew there were no soldiers in Dresden. The war was over.
It was even a bigger War Crime than what Sherman did to the South at the end of the War of Northern Agression.

I don't know why your question is being shown in Brazil.
What did the British do against you, people?
I'm writing from Brazil and I'm confused with all these English questions appearing to me.
Well, anyway, a hug from a Brazilian young man.

That depends. Should the British still be upset about the Germans bombing London with conventional as well as rocket propelled bombs that gave no warning when they hit.

properly i'm a Christian and DO have confidence in God, Jesus, and the Bible so i assume i will't provide you the respond you're searching for... yet I even have my guesses. i think of that human beings who do no longer have confidence in God and the Bible are in all hazard very egocentric and bypass by existence doing even though they desire just to thrill themselves so they are chuffed for although long their existence seems to be (for the reason that they does no longer have confidence in existence after dying). those varieties of folk are additionally very technological information-oriented, thinking there's a logical, medical explantion for each thing. in the event that they actually opened their eyes however (and their hearts for that rely), that they had see plenty extra (previous mere technological information). Christians already understand all of this, even though it particularly is particularly no longer common to proportion it with those die-no longer common skeptics that positioned partitions around themselves so they are able to't see the rest. it particularly is unhappy, particularly. we are able to objective as no longer common as we are able to to steer them to Christ, yet in addition they could have fairly "desire". we gained't rigidity it on them. it particularly is going to likely be unhappy on Judgment Day whilst maximum of folk see Jesus return and understand they have been incorrect for no longer listening to the actuality from loving people who purely tried to help them see that. I continuously desire there exchange right into a much better way. some think of Christians merely walk around on blind faith even though it particularly is different from that for the period of any respect.

WW II Germany suffered because of their leader.Hitler commited more crimes against humanity than anyone else that I am aware of. So much so that a lot of people still refer to German people as Krauts, and Nazis. It's all AFH. Get over it.
