Now foundation primers come in colors--green, purple/lavender, peach, and what not. I can see that green one will hide redness on the face and that peach will cover dark circles and sun spots. But, I have just no idea how to use the purple/lavender one. Thank you for your help.

These are used to destroy the overuse of drying skin
medium blush overuses. The long long overdone makeup
types use, lavendars and purples in small smears to take
off caked up layer look and still have some makeup cover.

The purple primer its mostly for yellowish skin color, its to make a natural skin tone for a lifeless ,colorless skin.If you don't have a yellowish skin tone ,then I don't advise you to use it because it's gonna make your skin color to cold looking.
