I don’t think so; it is very rare.
What is very common is someone powerful doing something terrible to others; then proudly tells the story laughing the entire life, the victim just stays the victim and nothing ever happens to the offender.
I think people just say that to feel better, but they know it is not true.
And I think Karma is not true either, if someone had karma then would not do evil things in the first place.
What do you think???

It ALL depends on what you believe and how you practice it. Karma is a premise in the Buddhist religion. You must come back and learn things that you did not in your past life. Karma does not necessarily come back to you in your current life. Just like some one believing in God and Jesus and that they will be punished in hell for sinning etc.

I believe in karma and try to focus my life on that premise. I believe that if more people did, they certainly would not do the bad things they might, if they believed that it WOULD come back to them.

Karma is a natural, impersonal law of moral cause and effect and has no connection with the idea of a supreme power that decrees punishment or forgiveness of sins.

I really do believe that what goes around comes around. It may not happen right away or even for a long time but I think it is true. Every time something bad happens to me I sit back and think did I ever do something similar to this? You may not see that the other person gets what they deserve but I really do think that it will happen. With that being said I also think that there are times when victims don't deserve what they get. I think that bad things happen to good people alot, however what doesn't kill you can make you stronger if you let it.

I disagree with you...people who do terrible things to others, often have terrible things happen to them at some point to...we may just not associate the terrible that happens to them, with the bad deed they did that preceeded it.

It may take a while for the consequences of their action to "come around" to them, which is why it may not be associated as a consequence of a particular action...

I think the cosmos seeks balance...what you send out, you get back...karma is a convenient term but the idea is the same...

partial definition of karma: "action, seen as bringing upon oneself inevitable results, good or bad, either in this life or in a reincarnation"

Works for me...

Let me tell you a great story about Karma my friend. I have a guy friend that had a girlfriend and slept with another girl at his work place at the same time. His girlfriend eventually broke up with him for other reasons. Then his mistress told his girlfriend about their affair. Now my buddy can't get a date because both of them have done everything they can to destroy his name. If that isn't karma, I don't know what is.

It takes a lifetime to have it come around, but yes, Karma will catch up. We should not wait to see, or try to inflict it, because it can just come back on you instead. Everything is eventual, remember?? It comes around, as disease, injury, business relation, or even private relations... it can even eat at them internally, and they may beat themselves up.

I agree with you. It is a way to make people feel better when bad things happen to them, but I don't think it's true. It's all chance in this world.
