I know people say regardless of how we got there, we are there and have to deal with it, but we also have to deal with the fact that there was no actual reason for the invasion. Will our allies rally to us when we have an ACTUAL need of their assistance and will our enemies be more numerous and cohesive?
We cannot pretend to be blind.

To you idiots who link the Iraq War with 9/11, even Mr Bush says there was absolutely no link whatsoever. There was no link to al Qaida, no WMDs and no chemical or biological programs. Saddam in fact was a mortal enemy of bin Laden. If you are stupid enough to mention the UN resolutions, the UN also voted against invasion, not for it.

well americans have turned a blind eye to many of americas military operations in other countries blindly believing it was somehow in their best interest but in reality it was in the interest of big money and corporations ... so far the consequences have been massive loss of life but not here ... i think whats at stake is how we view ourselves and what amount of freedom we are willing to sacrifice for this cause ... and is it time to wake up to the fact that all these wars are not helping the american people but hurting them ...

If you think there was no real reason for the attack, you must never read the papers.
Have you ever heard of the Twin Towers, the Cole, embassies all over. Those, and a heck of a lot more were destroyed with the loss of thousands of lives.
The ones who did the dirty work were financed and trained in Iraq. Perhaps you haven't noticed that there were no attacks on America since we went into Iraq.
Your FACT is not a fact, and there was a very good reason for the invasion. If we cannot pretend to be blind, then why are you ?

There was in fact a valid reason for invading Iraq, and I am very glad that we are not now likely to find out the hard way that it was justified. Iraq had WMD's (it used them), was required by the truce agreement and UN resolutions to get rid of them in an accountable manner (it didn't), and it was simply too much of a risk to leave Saddam in power with the capacity to use them. See reference for much more on this.

UN mandates, and a military presence for 10 years before our invasion, is "unprovoked" and "no real reason"????
I remember the good old days, when anti-war people would hold "teach-ins" so they'd get their facts straight. I dn't mind someone being against the war, but when they're wrong on fact is does pretty much kill their arguments.
Maybe they're lying to get us OUT of Iraq???

that's what angers me...the lack of visualization by the Administration...when he stood in front of Congress and the American people and told us that "mis-information" about the reasons for invading....I thought to myself "ooh boy, here we go...stirring up a hornets nest"...it's as if they had no idea that what they might be doing was going to cause more harm than good...I am not saying that we wouldn't have eventually done something major militarily...it's just the rapidity that we did it...it was an immature act, with limited thought to the consequences.

Apparently you are unaware of the UN resolution authorizing the war in Iraq, or is this another convenient memory loss that hits all Liberals when they cant think of anything else to say!!

first of all ethnic cleansing of the kurds is not unrprovoked and 911 hardly makes it preemptive. we have actual need of assistance and if we abandon iraq that will be a clear sign to continue here. you have a choice..its like seeing cockroach..you kill till theyre gone or face more that expand.
perhaps in the future you could check facts a little more closely....if you dont consider 911 a provocation then what exactly what is.

It is really very sad none among Bush advisers asked themselves these questions. Neither before the invasion, nor during nor till very recently.
