Try a good psychology book. When two people fall in love, certain hormones kick in I think they are called PBA's or something like this. When these hormones kick in, you see nothing wrong with the person who is attracting you. You focus on all the things you have in common and how many romantic things have brought you together. This is a biological fact. It might be part of the need to reproduce. At any rate, these hormones dont calm down for awhile and while these hormones are dominating your body, you often dont make wise decisions. You think you will die if anything happens to the other. You start getting sloppy at work and you forget your own values. You live and breathe for contact with this significant lover. This is often called foolish because bad mistakes in judgment are made. Many couples weather this initial hormone phase and go on to have good relationships. But many other people act like morons. They have fistfights with anyone who looks at their honey. They blow money on needless things. They change their whole personality and often reject good friends. Yes love can be foolish but it can also be good if people get through the hormone stage and build a real relationship.

For being foolish, it sure is powerful. People have died and kingdoms have toppled for it.
