Imagine you were making a car or another moving object- you wouldn't want loads of bits sticking out of it and causing air resistance. You would make one that would encounter the least air resistance i.e. without bits sticking out: that would be streamlined.
People talk about stremlining things when they are talking about making them run better.

I believe you are meaning 'streamline' ~ it's one word.
It means 'to design something with as little resistance to the airflow around it' in order that it move with less 'air resistance' when moving.
Hence, for eg: aircraft and racing cars are designed the way they are, and competitive swimmers now wear swim suites designed so that water (which behaves similar to air) flows over the fuselage or the body easier.
