Imagination is real and not real. Imagination is real in itself, the thing imagined may not be, but in that sense it is innovative, adaptive and real, maybe nonexistent, but real nonetheless. Imagination is what can be, not bound by reality or what is considered to be real. Imagination is the beginning of realization.

The imagination is not a tangible object or place that can be considered real. However, the realities we live in can be infected
by our imagination. We mostly think in pictures; i.e. memories, ideas, etc. When faced with the everyday our imaginations can alter slightly our realities. Ever visit a place you frequented as a child and remembered it being much bigger? Ever held fast to your memory of something someone did or said only to later find that your memory was not quite correct? Perhaps the mixture of two or more similar events created a false reality. Imagination is a toy and a painter. Our perception of reality is a part of our imagination; did you ever see a child chase a butterfly, or was he/she merely running behind them?
Is the imagination real?
It is as real as you allow it to be.

Well now that's an odd question. I know what you mean though. I've actually wondered about this myself. Weather or not there is an actual part of the brain that is made for the imagination, I do not know. But I do know that it is real. If it wasn't real, then where the heck does creativity come from?

Yes and No, your imagination is crucial to creating let's say a work of art, and art is the process that becomes real in that sense. But drive has to be controlled and the controller is your physical intelligence, and hence imagination is a type of weird phenomenon.

It's as real as it gets! :)
If you live in a city, almost everything around you
once started out as nothing more than a figment
of someone's imagination.

How 'bout....no. Hence the reason for the term, imaginary. False, fake, not real. How can something that is the very definition of unreal, be real? Good try though!

Everything that humans have created had to be 'imagined' first. Therefore, it is real because it creates things that are real.

Up to you to decide...Only you individually can make it real...everything is possible. When and if you 'll make it, then only you will know that, for the rest of humanity will not believe you...with all following consequences... To me it is as real as a reality I am creating for myself.

Do you mean is it matter? No, it is just electric current circulating through our brain cells that shows a picture or event that we enjoy (or if you have an overactive imagination some things that we fear).
