can you be in two moments simultaneously?

Einstein would say that time is relative. Think of lightning. If it strikes close by, the light waves don't have as far to travel to reach you, so the lightning appears to happen instantaneously. But if it strikes in the same place and you are miles from it, it seems to happen later, because it takes longer for its light waves to reach you. So, your evaluation of the lightning's strike (when it happened) is dependent on YOU, and not the actual strike. As far as being in two moments simultaneously, I found a good book that discusses that possibility: "Time Travel in Einstein's Universe," by J. Richard Gott.

But as far as using time's relativity as an excuse for being late, I don't know if anyone will believe you!

Time isnt really a lie, more so a measurement. You may be thinking of "Time is an illusion" well that is true and untrue. There is time, yet it is relative. Wether it is a force of nature or not, when you move from point A to point B there will be changes to the world around you as time passes...as to if you can be in two moments simultaneously, think about it this way, lets say you have a time machine, paradox isnt an issue, you go back to the 1940's, wouldnt you then be existing in the 1940's as well as your own time from which you came, this is all however resting on the premise that time travel is available.

Time is actually real. Scientists used to think there was this thing called absolute time. Which meant that no matter where you were or how fast you were going time was ticking at the same rate everywhere. Only within the last thirty years have they found out that time is not absolute. Theoretically, two people can be at different places in the universe, traveling at dramatically different speeds and one would age faster than the other. Not because of friction or any kind of general wear and tear but because motion effects time. To learn more about this read a book by Steven Hawkings called " a brief history of time".

Time is a label humans use to describe chemical reactions that occur everyday. Time isn't a natural thing, if we weren't here, the sun would still spin and the earth would still revolve around it. As for being in two moments simultaneously, that is impossible. For that to happen you would have to remove yourself from the universe, reverse every reaction that has ever happened since the dawn of existence, and then place yourself back in the universe at the same moment you were to be created.

Since you are in the philosophy section:

What is a lie?
Is it something that is not real?
Is it something that is real, but shouldn't be?

Anyways: to answer your question about being in two moments simultaneously there are two possibilities:
1. In quantum physics, an object in superposition is in two or more places at the same time.
2. If you are outside of the time-space continuum (ex: time has stopped, but you can still move around) then technically, you can be everywhere at once.

I think you CAN be in two moments simultaneously by being in one place, (say your home), and someone across the country or in another city THINKING about you. (you're "there" with them).

No, I don't believe time is a lie. Moments tick by quickly in our lives. And we are given so many years or days to live, but we don't know when our "time" is up.

time doesnt exist.
you can be in two moments simultaneously if you managed to travel back in time, you would exist in the "then" and in the "now" but your now would be in the then time, i do believe that one of you would have to die to let the other live on though because it would cause a major disturbance in "time" and in reality...but when you think about it reality doesnt truely exist either so yes maybe you could live simultaneously in the same "time"!!??

I don't think it is a lie. I tend to think that moves even when you don't. When you sleep, time escapes in a dream. When you work, it labors past you, and as you know time flies when your having fun. Time just lets you know it waits for no one. Oh, the simultaneously? Could be DeJaVu (I spelled it wrong...)

Time is certainly not a lie.
It is a mode of perception; it is our way of seeing
the world as a thing-in-process.Without this built-in
time-perception that we all have, we would doubtless
go mad. Time allows us to deal with the universe in
a reasonable manner.

Actually, I think that this is quite a good question.
I have read lots of books that talk about a second world. me, i think that there is actually a second world we live in and that we can be in two moments, but we don't know it. There's two of us, that's why there is split personalities, mood swings and all.

One book is called Inheart, and its sequel is inkspell. you should read it. It's good
