For fixing whatever is wrong with the UN?
The US is a permanent member of the security council. The security council decides what the UN can or can not do.Isn't all the UN trashing a very good example of avoiding to take responsibility by the world community, Americans and especially the right?

Isnt funny how we went to war because Saddam wasnt obeying UN mandates? Trashing the UN is only because the UN didnt back our invasion of Iraq. This adminstration just mocks and bullies anything that doesnt bow to its wishes.

Why are you so dead-set against personal responsibility?!?

We aren't the only voice in the UN, so how can we fix it? Yes, we're a permanent member of the Security Council, but so are France, Germany, the UK, and China - and, with the notable exception of the UK, they won't even agree to enforce the UN's own resolutions.

LOL As for expecting the right to fix it, we don't want to have to fix everyone else's problems. We want everyone to be responsible for themselves.

If the UN wants to restore any credibility, they should somehow punish France for their conspiracy w/Saddam on the Oil For Food program. It won't fix everything, but it WOULD mean that - work with me here - France would have to take responsibility for their actions! Not a total solution, admittedly, but it would be a start. And, of course, quit passing resolutions they have absolutely *no* intention of enforcing.

The UN isn't some nameless faceless organization, it is comprised of hundreds of member nations. The security council consists of 15 nations, 7 of which, I believe have veto power. The security coucil unanimously passed a resolution calling on Saddam Hussein to fully disarm or face serious consequences. Hussein chose to ignore the UN, and the US, with he help of a few brave allies, delivered the serious consequences. The UN has become a debating society that doesn't actually do anything important. John Bolton is trying to change that but gets no support from the left in the US, or around the world.

Because the UN doesn't want our input, for starters.

All of the UN trashing is an example of the frustration of the people who have to fund the very existence of the UN - the US public.

We are 1 of almost 200 members. Are you saying that we should appropriate all power in the UN to ourselves? That is the only way we could fix it.

The UN trashing is due to the failure of the UN to take responsibility.

There are so many logic leaps I'm almost embarrassed for you.

EDIT: It is specifically this question which is illogical. Inlogical is not a word.

John Bolton is trying to improve the UN.
Democrats hate him for that.
They have promised to get rid of him.
As you know, Democrats bow down to the UN.

They mean taking responsibility on a personal level only. And responsibility as in precisely following the rules they deem to be "right". None of that thinking for yourself crap.
