There are many benefits to having an SUV besides the off road ability. Ride height, hauling, and accessibility are the things that first come to mind. Most SUV's especially small and mid-size are basically cars with modified car suspensions and power-trains. This gives the SUV an advantage in that they cost relatively the same as cars but offer more to the consumer. I personally just bought a new SUV and traded in my Nissan 350Z. Why would i do such a thing you ask? Because getting my 95 yr old grand mother in a 350Z was a disaster waiting to happen. However she has no problems easing in and out of the higher, bigger, SUV.
