How do they make teenagers or older kids cry in movies?

Some people can do that. They just think of something sad from their lives and it makes them cry. Other people rub IcyHot under their eyes. (I can't make myself cry, so I tried the latter for a performance and had an allergic reaction...so, there is group 3, people who don't cry.)

Often times glycerine is put into the eyes to make the tears. But I've heard that many actors/actresses do not need to use it. They simply think of something very sad to them and they are able to "cry" on cue.

That's why they are actors because they are gifted. I've heard they are told to think of something really sad, like losing a parent or a pet.

You have to think of something really sad. Most actors are 'emotional' beings and things like envoking tears comes easy for us.

Otherwise, they bring their dog to the set and shoot it in front of them. (or pretend to...I don't remember which director did it, but it's true!)

Tell them to remember something that made them cry in real life. Try it sometimes, it works everytime.

they show a video of a pony getting blown up, guts splattering everywhere. If that dosn't work, maybe they take a cannon and fire kittens into a huge target.

They act and they have special eye drops to put into their eyes. that get the tears a'rolling
