TV, FILM, is more of an LOS ANGELES/ HOLLYWOOD thing. Wow , I feel for you. Anyways , couple essential things maybe getting into networking at a local place where most artist hangout in the district there , and perhaps obtain an agent, which will make things a WORLD of a difference.

Backstage.com (free online with many auditions around the USA).

You can buy Backstage, every Thursday, at major newstands in NYC.
