They would have lost Keith because John L Smith was done and that was who recruited him. I think they should have stuck it out with John L Smith - he was a winner @ Louisville and Utah State before hand

I dont think they hired the wrong coach, he has an understanding of the Big Ten and some recruiting history here as well. Coker would have been another good choice but likely was never considered, money was a big factor in who their next coach was going to be. It is disappointing that Nicol decided to go to Oklahoma but I think that he would have left regardless of who they hired, I think the uncertainty at MSU had more to do with his decision than the choice of coaches, he didnt want to be in his Jr or Sr year and see this same situation come up again. I agree with a previous answer about Perles being too big a political force at MSU for any coach to have any level of comfort. Until some of the politcal forces at MSU go away they will continue to have problems competing with the U of M, OSU and Wisconsin.

properly, it really is first and maximum excellent the hot equipment and the hot coach. that is the regularly happening reason. despite the indisputable fact that, i change into on the game, and that i stated each and every Penn State sport this season both on television and thanks to my season tickets. in my opinion, Penn State performed their worst first 0.5 of the season. the first 2 drives were a fumble that fee us 16 yards, and the 2d one we lost to Michigan. That gave Michigan each and every of the momentum the first 0.5. Kevin Kelly's kick hitting the crossbars took away what little momentum we had the first 0.5. in the 2d 0.5, Penn State ultimately were given on their sport. change into Michigan off the 2d 0.5? i'm no longer constructive as i do not keep on with Michigan sufficient, so that you would recognize better ideal than i might want to. What i recognize is that actual Penn State team got here out the 2d 0.5. The turning element i might want to assert change into the safe practices in the top zone, the blocked punt, between different issues that occurred in that element span. PSU were given its self belief decrease back, and the team went loopy! supply Michigan a 12 months or 2. they are going to be decrease back. they're too sturdy of a football software no longer to go back decrease back.

No one will succeed at MSU until the two-headed monster of Joel Ferguson and George Perles is slain.
