Reguar goldfish should only be kept in outdoors ponds of hundreds of gallons as they can reach sizes of more than a foot in length.

Fancy goldfish can be kept in large aquariums --you'll need a minimum of 20-30 gal for one and about 10 gal for each after that. Even though they're small in the fishstore, they grow very large very quickly and have lifespans of more than 20 yrs, some more than 40. They do best in water colder than what most tropicals so they should be kept in goldfish-only tanks. They require heavy duty filtration and regular water changes because they produce more waste than most fish. They do best when fed small meals several times a day rather than single large meals. They like plenty of decor to explore and hide in but can be very rough on live plants.

They can be some of the hardiest and most entertaining of fish if you are careful not to buy sick, weak goldfish or goldfish in tanks with other sick fish.

You feed it when think it looks hungry. If it is at the bottom of the bowl or tank and not breathing or blinking it is dead. Also if you get a fish right away get some goldfish food if it is a goldfish. If you don't have any food feed it some bread crumbs.Put either fish marbles or rocks at the bottom of the bowl of tank.Feeding bread crumbs doesn't always work.It might cause the fish to die faster maybe in three days. That is if you feed the fish bread crumbs every morning and every night and sometimes in the afternoon when you come home from school.BE CARFUL TAKING CARE OF THE GOLDFISH I WARN YOU!

Goldfish are one of the easiest fish to raise. Just keep the tank clean and watch that you don't over feed them. Adjust the pH from time to time and if you are experiencing problems try melafix (tea tree natural product) to treat them.

you can drop them in a horse trough, but that depends on the species. get a tank, filter, gravel, set up any type of live aquarium plants, and provide hiding places such as caves.get a dechlorinater- I use amquell- and your set to go. feed them pellets or flakes once a day, and vary their diet every once in awhile with frozen worms from the pet store, lettuce, or other smallr fish. Algae will soon grow on the side of your aquarium but do not be alarmed, purchase an algae eater- most people say theses cant live with goldfish as they producetoo much ammonia, but mine has for 6 years-these will be fun to have in your tank but will get very large over the years. Also preform 10 - 15% water changes every few weeks.

Drop them in the horse trough, let them eat algae, feed them once a week in the winter. They grow big.

For me anyway
