Because they're too hardline in their belief. There is absolutely nothing wrong with letting your child believe in Santa, or the Easter Bunny, or the Tooth Fairy. I've raised my son to believe in Jesus AND he's still looking forward to a visit from Santa this Christmas Eve.
Full Gospel Shirley is EXACTLY the kind of person I'm talking about. Isn't there a non-believer out there you need to brow-beat into submission, Shirley?

we do not do Santa Claus ourselves, yet round grandchildren and very childrens we do. there's no harm in believing in Santa Claus. childrens learn quickly sufficient besides, or they figure it out. they must believe in something. no longer something incorrect with previous St. Nick or the Easter Bunny. there are a selection of worse issues they could properly learn to believe in. Why take each and every of the exciting out? I save in thoughts some large Christmases too, and when I awoke one Christmas Eve at the same time as i change into about 7 or 8, and stated my mom and father taking the promises down the steps. I knew something my little sister did not.

Go to the stores, they don't even play a lot of the Xmas songs anymore. I like the old way better with the church Xmas special for the kids to each have a part and believing in Santa up until they reach a certain age. To me it does not seem like Xmas any more.

I chose not to do the "santa clause" thing because when I was a child, I remember the heartbreaking experience of getting up one christmas eve to get a drink and seeing my dad putting the "santa" gifts under the tree. I remember I felt like "how could my parents lie to me like that".
So, I have explained to my children that Santa clause is something alot of parents grew up believing in and they let thier kids believe in, even though he really doesn't exist. And you know what they told me at age of 5? They asked me "why would parents lie to thier kids and tell them there was santa if he doesn't exist, those are bad parents."
I just don't believe it is right to lie to the children and tell them this guy flies all over the world and delivers presents to good boys and girls when it isn't true.
But I also don't belittle those that do. There are some friends of mine who do the santa thing, and I tell my kids not to talk about it with thier kids, that is their parent's business if they want to do the santa thing, not ours.

For many reasons. This traditon is wrong. It is only tranposition of the word satan.. santa. get it? This gives satan the glory for all presents, etc. instead of children seeing that God provides it all for them. and the focus is off Jesus which is what Christmas is supposed to be, not getting presents and teachin gour children to be materialistic and greedy. It may seem like harmless fun, but do a study on Christmas and easter and all th epagan stuff they brought in, it is evil. and our children should teach our kids this. And No, I am not jehovah wittness. I am pentacostal. But, I believe in studying all things out according to scripture to just KNOW.. and once I did, my eyes were open as are many Christians today. Not all celebrate Christmas this way. we celebrate the birth of Jesus, His life, death and resurrection, for therin lies our blessed Hope, and we do that all year thru, but on the day of Christmas itself, we spend it in prayer and thankfulness for all God has done.
the wonderment of the whole thing is JESUS, not santa. see what the devil has done. Come out of it Christians. evil and good dont mix. light and darkness dont mix. also noone knows the b day of Jesus Birth, but probbly in the spring.
Celebrate Jesus, not Christmas, big difference.

Well I would rather my child learn the true meaning of Christmas instead of learning about a made up person that really don't exist. That why I would not have to break their heart in the future by telling there really isn't a Santa Claus.

I said that and got slammed for being a Christian yet "lying" to my children. (hypothetical don't have any yet) I believe a childs life should be magical. They have enough reality as adults.
