If you are a certified teacher (California Primary or Secondary Single Subject credential), your age should NOT be a factor, given the incredible number of openings that are going unfilled.

However, if you wish to obtain a teaching position, you will need to get hold of your grammar, syntax and punctuation.

know what?
it is really hard to find tutors at my college.
could you advertise at local colleges to be a tutor?
my chemistry tutor was a high school chemistry teacher (laid off) and charges $20.00 / hour.
you can schedule when you want, charge accordingly.
and get some true appreciation from students who are struggling.
and if you inform the councilers at the schools, you may not even have to use $ to advertise !
hope this helps

Find a different profession. If you aren't Mexican down there, you don't get good work. And when you do, the pay is low. Try private tutoring. If you find enough people needing your services, you'll do alright. Good luck.

Move to Las Vegas. I hear there is a shortage of teachers and are practically buying people to come out there and teach.
