Yes, but living on the surface of the moon requires adequate protection from an environment that's in a near vacuum, has virtually no water, no vegetation or other food sources, undergoes wild swings in temperature, and is open to dangerous radiation from space. For short visits to the surface of the moon, space suits provide the needed protection, and for longer stays permanent habitats would be required that provide all the needs of the human organism.

Not until a space station of some kind is landed or built on the lunar surface. Spending a year there won't be as bad for a person as it is for an astronaut on the international space station, but there still isn't enough gravity to maintain muscle tone and bone density.

bricknys is right, the moon dust is poison to the lungs, causes silicosis.
buy everybody above forgot the main drag about living in the moon.
its gravity. one sixth of the earth's
our bodys fight agaist our gravity and is more than adecuated to the earth. they are fixed upon its surface.
at the very moment the effort is less than 9.8 m/seg2 the muscles will low the tension and start to weaken. it happens in space, and exercise is not enough.
and the veins and arteries suffer changes, dramatic changes!
the bones will notice that they dont need so mucho calcium-phospor and will start eliminating it
result: a new body weaker than before, because is more suitable to the new enviroment (remember the first rule of living tissues: ADAPTATION!!!)
once we start living in the moon, after a limited time, we can never come back, ever!!
sorry, but thats how we are built...

Not naturally. There's no reality t.v., how can you live without American Idol?!??

Actually it's because the temperature of the moon is drastically different, if you are in the shade, you'll freeze, if you are in the sunlit area, you'll burn.

No water, little or no atmospher, you'll have trouble breathing and you'll starve!

Unless you live in a dome where the environment is controlled... then you can't live on the moon, try living on Earth, it's a nice planet!

Not really. We haven't even got to the surface. The history you know about the moon is actually a hoax.

Sorry ,no you can not, unless you live in a pressurized cabin or living quarters. If you walked outside the cabin by mistake your eye balls would pop out and being void of air it would crush your lungs by drawing every last little bit of air from your lungs until they cave your chest in.Stay indoors its better!
