If you leave him in a bowl, he will definitely die.

Do you want your goldfish to live? If you want to, you can be a great goldfish parent, with a happy healthy goldfish.
The first thing you need to do is go buy a proper fishtank. Get one that is 20 gallons, with a lid and light.
You can probably find one used in your local classifieds, or craigslist.com or even ebay.com. You can probably find a kit with a filter and a heater for 20-60$ used, maybe 40-80$ at a petstore.
Then get some goldfish food (they sell some at the petstore) some gravel and some tank decorations.

He can live in regular water, and you don't need a heater as long as your house doesn't get any colder than 64F, just be sure to get some dechlorinator (which neutralized the chlorine in your tap water, which will kill your fish)

Can you find some Bio-Spira at your petstore? When you first start up a fishtank, there are no good bacteria in it. This good bacteria which you can find an established fishtank, and it breaks down the toxic ammonia which your fish produces into less toxic nitrates. If you can't find Bio-Spira, try getting some gravel or a filter cartridge from an established tank.

If you don't want to care for this fish, please just bring him to your local fish store. As I said, if you leave him in a bowl, he WILL die. If you want him to live, get him a fishtank, or give him to your local petstore.

But I encourage you to go ahead, get a fishtank, and give it a shot! Fishkeeping is a great hobby. I started with a betta bowl and now I have about 200 gallons of fishtank in my apartment :)

Goldfish can live at room temperature water. Depending on the size of the tank you're keeping it in, you need to change the water to keep it clean and healthy. Weekly changes at least. You can try changing 50% of the water each time.

It really should be fed actual fish food... you can get goldfish flakes very cheap at virtually any grocery store or drug store. Theres no reason your fish can't live a long time if you keep it clean and fed. Think about getting it a cheap 5 or 10 gallon tank

Im not sure about the water and stuff but mine never got anything special. Back when I had goldfish I kept them in room temperature, filtered water. They had a decent sized aquarium and fish food from the pet store. Don't just leave it there to die because that would be cruel and it would also be animal abuse. Good Luck I hope you enjoy your fish!!

1) Gold fish don't need filters, so yes you can put him in a bowl. For the food, go to petsmart or some other pet store and buy some food there. Ask a worker there to help you find what you need, and maybe you can buy some objects to put in the bowl while your at it.

2) The best water to put him in would be room temperature. I had a betta that died last year because the water got really cold during the day and really hot when I turned the heater on, so refrain from changing the temperature drastically.

they eat lettuce but only occasionally. feed him goldfish flakes or pellets from the local pet store. keep multiple food in his diet such as flakes, pellets, lettuce, smaller fish/ frozen worms from the pet store, etc.this ensures he gets all his nutrients.also get a dechlorinater such as amquell and set up a filter. I have kept a fish from the fair for a year, and besides, if he dies get more fish (I would suggest tropical community) so that your efforts to set up a tak arent wasted.
