Take a look at the book "The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat" by Oliver Sacks. He writes very interestingly about neurological (brain) disorders. There are several chapters, each one a different problem. Some of them are due to injury, but some are conditions the person was born with. Another book, "An Anthropologist on Mars," is similar, and has a chapter on Tourette's Syndrome, which 7th graders should love because among other things it can include compulsive swearing. They should be in the public library.

There are people born who are allergic to the sun...it's so serious they literally have to remain in the dark for their whole life. I can't remember what it's called but the city I live in has a family with 3 children born with this same genetic disorder.

I know a person that was born with a very rare eating/sleeping disorder. She never eats much during the day and at night she sleep walks and raids the kitchen. And no, she doesn't sleep walk because she doesn't eat much during the day, it's the other way around.

I'm not sure if that's what you wanted or not.

There's a genetic disorder where people are born w/ hands shaped like lobster claws.

There is a whole family of them. I think they preform in the circus or used to. They are on tv everyonce and a while...

Do they have to be BORN with them?

Because there is something called "alien hand syndrome" where a person refuses to believe that their very own hand belongs to them. VERY bizarre disorder!
