i always divert the sarcasm to their shortcoming...they start defending

now its about them and not about me

works all the time

Smile if you want to play this game (it's just a game anyway) and throw a fast line in! The more witty the better. They'll back of smiling with no hard feelings shortly after: no one can play this for a long time with someone that smiles at them!

I've always liked what Miss Manners advises. Smile sweetly and say something, "I'm sure you didn't mean that to sound as sarcastic as it did."

They can either say:
1. Yes I did.
2. No I didn't and apologize.
3. Or say nothing because they know you've nailed them.

Here's a list of thing you can do from the most preferred to the least preferred:

1) Don't let them get to you, brush them off as jerks.
2) Use your own repertoire of witty remarks
3) Think fast
