Where did the idea of eating popcorn at a Movie theatre origininate from?

Ooo! I saw this on t.v. Street vendors used to sell popcorn from carts outside of the movie houses. People would buy their snacks and bring them into the theaters. Then theater owners got wise and decided to offer the cheap snack to their customers and of course raise the price to make a ridiculous profit.

Well, I see you have an answer as to who originated the idea, but I can tell you that the reason theater owners picked up on the idea was because popcorn have the greatest profit margin of any concession food. The kernels are dirt cheap, they can charge out the wazoo for it, and most people never finish the whole bag.

As for noisy people in the theater, I find it best to have a squirt gun full of shampoo. If shhhing them doesn't work, give them a couple squirts in the hair. Imagine what they're thinking when they're in a dark theater and suddenly, they have a thick, gooey substance in their hair, and they don't know where it comes from.
