They have been performed since the beginning of time, with herbs and other methods. Why is it an issue at all?

Some people think if you have sex then you need to be punished by forced childbirth.

GREAT question. I think part of the reason abortion creates so much controversy is that it involves a baby. (or potential baby).

Babies have a way of tugging at even the hardest hearts. For those who really believe that a baby is about to be torn to shreds, the reaction is understandable.

Others only focus on the woman/mother. They strongly beleive that the woman's life and freedom to choose are the most important factors.

When you consider that women could not even vote 50 years ago, you can understand how some can worry about woman losing rights.

People kill animals all the time too. Why is it when I killed my dog with a rock, people got angry. There's a desire in people to change their nature to make a better, safer society. Freud wrote that the creation of a society undermines our basic desires as humans, it's a sort of delayed gradification. Abortion, so the argument goes, undermines the strenght of our society. Dening it, though it goes agian the selfish will, strenghths our bonds. Maybe you agree or disagree with this statement, but this is the logic behind why this is still an issue. It's an issue questioning which side of the coin makes our society stronger.

because through the generations we have learned more and have come to see these little human beings as being humans as they are look at all the material on pregnancy and look at the pictures and discoveries made to help us watch them in a womb can you tell me they are not alive? is it up to us to play god and snuff a little life out in its beginnings???????????yes there are many answers and depending on what you see when you first have one carry one here it cry and deliver ,one tell me did for a moment you think it was not alive? that is of course my opinion and i hope being of the human species that others feel the same way but unfortunately we don't all have the same ranking for a life in the beginnings i hope you see it for what it is the truth it is a living human and when you stop it from living it is like taking the tubes away from someone you love knowing they would survive and flourish it is quite a big issue so large that i wish men also could have them and see for themselves although some never learn female and male we are not god or whatever higher one you believe in or even don't look at the pictures and movements would you not believe it is alive and of you? good luck with all the answers that i am sure you will get my opinion this should not be a right given to us to terminate but is life and it is alive should we give the right to all to kill anyone because we want them dead? no is my answer as you see adoption is a suitable answer as so many couples want and would raise the child that someone else could not or does not want to .. think first act like a human with a conscious good luck on what you see after this we all have opinions but this is real not imaginary and to all those who have i am not to judge what you have done or why i just know i would not kill a living helpless baby

let's hear more about these herbal abortions. Reliable, are they?

Maybe you're talking about raking the womb with silver queen artemissia stalks or something, like the mideaval crones and their willow twigs.

It's a controversial issue because it is the non-accidental termination of a life. Sure, "civilized" societies justify that in a lot of different ways for a lot of different reasons (war, execution, euthanasia, self defense) but it is typically pretty controversial when people kill other people, especially when they choose to kill their own offspring - because it would be mightily inconvenient to them to let nature take its course.

Even the most liberal non-moralist should at least be given pause by that.

Go to the website called , "babies in the womb" or live pics of babies in the womb from Oxford England...you will see the other side of the argument and also see an article on line Called the History of Planned Parenthood. Good luck in your quest for knowledge!

watch the silent scream video.
A fetus is alive, it is human and it is capable of feeling pain. Being pulled limb from limb is a form of torture. Medieval convicts were disposed of this way and now in the "modern" age, our unwanted babies experience the same death, while our convicts are treated with more dignity and compassion.
It is truly horrific what people are willing to do to pass blame of their own, or other peoples, choices, and dispose of the evidence in whatever way possible.

It is an issue because some people do not think that killing a baby is right. Some people have very strong feelings about life and death.

Because some people believe that life begins at conception, and that the clump of cells is a child even when it does not have a heart or a nervous system yet.

Abortion is pretty much to murder another person. The baby is human and functioning. To kill it... it's murder.

Take a look at this picture:

Actually, go surf some pro-life sites and see what they have to say for yourself.
