im not into flowers. but i do enjoy the ocasional surprise. it doesn't matter if it's a dozen or just a single rose...(honestly, i prefer the single rose. it kills me to know he spent 50 bucks on a dozen!) it shows that he took the time out of his busy life to think of me and put a smile on my face and that special feeling in my heart. it's the small things that count.

Your not getting it. Flowers are pretty and smell nice and improve the environment where they are placed but that is only the small part of it. Cash is easy, effort is what matters. Taking the time to go out, find the florist or some place that has flowers, having them aranged, taking the time to try to understand what she likes and dislikes... basically putting in the effort to show that she is worth it. The gift itself is really a small part of the present. That fact that you cared enough to go out of your way and try is much more important.
Very much like the little kid who draws a greeting card for a parent. Sure they could have gone to the store with Mommy and just helped mommy pick something out but it was the effort put forth in sitting down and speding the time to draw it, add the glitter and what ever else to make it special. It probably looks like crap in the end but if your a good parent you appreciate the effort.
Same thing. Shows you care.

The idea about flowers is the thought that goes into it,
Flowers used to mean a lot more in olden times with certain flowers and colours meaning certain things...
Plus, they are just pretty!
Cash is what it is...it is cold and somehow can imply that the person has no idea what to get them and/or hasn't put any thought into trying to please them...
Some women would be insulted if given cold cash as there is a connotation of of cheapness implied by a gift of cash...
Some might think the guy (or girl) who is trying to give them the cash thinks they are some how prostituting themselves or are of a gold digging nature...

Are flowers the most expensive things you can think of that women are into? What about jwelry, designer clothes, millions of shoes, and other beautiful and useless things? What would you do with the cash? I mean of course there are better ways to spend them, give to charity, buy a book, etc, but we are likely to spend on silly but nice things that make us happy.

Flowers are not always expensive, the reason ladies are as you say 'into flowers is that the value is with what they are given.
After all is the single daffodil given to a Mum by her child any less value than 100 orchids given by a prince to a showgirl.

I would rather go on a date walking around the neighborhood or riding 4 wheelers out in the country than going to an expensive resteraunt... the women that would rather go do things that r more expensive are suck up and STUPID!!!

Flowers are unique and each variety has a special meaning. Plus they are aesthetically pleasing. Cash is impersonal, dirty and smells bad. I can understand your feelings towards flowers, it's not for everyone.

I think it's more of the thought than anything. I'm not a big fan of spending tons of money on something that dies in less than a week but I think it's the thought that someone cared enough. I know I enjoy getting them for no reason at all - it's just a little something to help make your day a little happier.

Flowers show that the man took time into choosing them and that he doesnt want to just give you money. It shows that he cares...... So I would take the flowers..... just my opinion.
