I have been advised by my GP to change contraception, because I've been on Depo for 18 years and I am at serious risk from Osteoparosis, and have to go to hospital for a bone scan. However, I have not had periods for all this time, and I don't want them back. Are there any ladies out there, that are on some thing else, and don't see periods. Please help, Thanks.

I have and IUD(the Mirena) and the periods I do have are exremely light, they are so light that the only way I know that I am on my period is when I wipe after I urinate and there are just a few pink spots. Other than that I don't know of any other BC tha tinhibits your period. Hope it helps!

If you've been avoiding pregnancy for 18 years, I wonder if you ever want to have kids... and if not, have you thought about an endometrial ablation? (see link) This destroys your fertility, but it stops your periods, is a one-time only thing, and doesn't have the same health risks of a hysterectomy.
If you aren't up for surgery or you still want children, I'd suggest talking to your doctor about continuous birth control. That's taking the pill without pause for the sugar pills. Seasonale is a packaged version of this to let you to have only four periods a year, but you can do the same thing with most other b.c. pills.
The Mirena IUD greatly diminishes menstruation in some women, but it's by no means a sure thing.

Try the progesterone only pill, you take a pill every day without a break but most pills only have a 3hr window (you have 3 hours only if you miss a pill) except for cerazette which has a 12 hour window. 17% with Merina may experience absense of period but definitely lighter periods. It is not unusual to have spotting only for a day. I have had many women returning because they cannot handle not having periods! We are all different. Have a chat with your practice nurse or doctor.

There is a new birth control pill out that you take for 3 months straight, so you only get 4 periods a year. I don't blame you for not wanting the periods back!

the doc should be able to advise you. a coil will make periods heavier. there is a contraceptive patch. try the mini pill. but most forms of contraception may mean you have periods. osteoporosis is a serious debilitating illness, which could seriously effect you in later life. if the doc advises you have the tests, then please do. go to family planning clinic for more advice.

they have a new pill. you get your period for only three days and it's really light. or there is the "seasonal" i think it's called you would only have a period every three months. i believe depo is the only one that gets rid of it totally. Good Luck!

Not having period for so long cannot be healthy.
Although I can understand the appeal.
Sorry I don't know of an answer to your question.
