nirvana would still have to be my favorite though...kurt dave and krist helped guide me through rough parts of my teenage life...those basic songs were so basic they were genius

i have to defend tool u people should appreciate such greatness more...only people who dont really know tool say all their songs sound the same

Why? Well Sublime are amazing don't really know much Tool or Alice In Chains and Nirvana's a waste of time.

1. Alice In Chains - One of my all time favorites. The "Dirt" CD is a masterpiece. Great songwriting.
2. Nirvana - Kurt wasn't the greatest guitar player, but he had some memorable riffs, and he was an awesome lyricist. "Nevermind" is also a masterpiece.
3. Sublime - Although Sublime did a lot of cover songs, they did a great job at making them their own. In fact, a lot of people don't realize that they did so many covers (The same can be said about Nirvana's Unplugged in N.Y. CD). They did a great job at genre bending. "40 Oz. To Freedom" was awesome.
4. Tool - Although I respect them, I never really could get into their music. I like the song Sober, but that's it. I don't understand why their fans are so obsessed w/ them.

Nirvanas music was very basic, and they didn't even bring in new ideas with that basic music. Sublime was actually not a bad band, they had some talent, and catchy music. Toss up between Tool and Alice in Chains, tool is technically very impressive, but for straight-up improv Alice in Chains is one of the best bands of all time.

sublime-3 I love them, and they never get old, I haven't heard all of their songs, so I give them a three
Nirvana-2 good band, and I respect them, but they are overplayed on the radio, and I've gotten tired of them.
alice in chains-2 good band, Haven't listened to them that much though.
Tool-3 good band, some of their songs do sound the same though, but schism is the best song ever.
