if you are wiccan then you know the rule of no spells for your self

First, the best spells are those one writes/creates themselves.
Next, there is a reason that it is called the "practice" of witchcraft. It takes a lot of practice, and with that we learn from our "failures". How many years have you been practicing? Even if it is more than a couple of decades, you will still be learning. Make a note of what you did and the results and use it to learn for future spellwork. At the time of the spell, were you comfortable with the energy you raised? Did you have any issues with directing that energy? How could you have done it differently? Did you have sufficient desire, belief, and action to do the spell properly? Did you ground the excess energy afterward? This experience could be a wonderful learning tool for you in your practices. At least someone benefited from your experience---it could be much worse.

I wont go into the tirade that some of the others have.....

What you believe in is your choice.
Whether it is the "power of prayer" or the "casting of the spell" or the "magick of the moment".

I happen to believe that anyone can kinetically modify their surroundings, and I see the results of this every day.

As they say in my "Circles" (heh heh, yeah I'm not Christian)... "What you believe you can cause to happen, but you must put something into it."

This is not the burning herbs, the loud singing voice, or the little wafer that dissolves on your tongue. It is the clear and focused thought that can be heard and understood clearly.

My guess is, you mind probably wandered a bit with whatever you did, and somehow you lost focus. If your kinetic manipulation worked on another person.... look at the bright side... at least it worked, right?

Focus clearly and try again....... and the rest of you allow this person their beliefs..... they did not bash you for yours.

Slan Astar..!!!!

Of all your respondents, Moiraes Fate said it most clearly: spells cast for personal gain are unlikely to work, and if they do, it will not be in the manner you expect or desire. Worse still, they may backfire in accordance with the Rule of Three. Your motivation for an enchantment is a key part of its power. If your motivation is selfish or unworthy ... well, I'm sure you understand. Blessings.

What spell did you use? Some spells can backfire. if it was a spell for you then you must have said something wrong. I can only tell you it has happened to me many times. be sure to wait a few days because some spells take time to work. I had a few that did.

OMG, Wicca does not equal Satanism! They are two TOTALLY DIFFERENT things!

In Wicca one does not worship the "devil", and as in all things people make their own choices to do good or bad.
Spells are just another ritual to get closer to your "God/Goddess", the same as symbolical taking the body and blood of Christ.
Wicca is originally and earth based religion. One that gave thanks for the earth and its bounties.

in the wiccan that i know, spells are just prayers to God and the Mother. they are not meant to benefit or harm anyone. they are simply asking the Lord and Lady to be with you and guide your feet on the proper path. i think maybe you should look the Rede over again. and the fact that they seemed to reap the benefits is probably coincidental, unless they were on your mind when you spoke, then it is highly possible they neede the benefits more than you and the Lord and Lady saw fit to give it to them.

Ignore most of the posters here. For some reason the Christians love to come in and bash anyone that starts talking about Wicca in any possible way. And yet, they wonder why we fight them so hard.

Now, as for your actual question...

Depends on what you did and why you did it. If you did it for self gain, it won't work. Especially if the spell would have harmed anyone else in the process. It's the Threefold Law in effect.

There could be a number of reasons. Where you fully focusing your intention? Did she(or he) slip through your mind while casting the spell? Were you clear? Have you been doing this long?

Uhhhhhh- because Wicca is a bunch of BS.... Try working hard in order to reap benefits instead of looking for an easy way out.

After reading all the Wiccan responses, It looks like there are some major discrepancies in the religion... What a surprise.

You can't use magick to change someone's free will or for personal gain. And you did both. Naughty. So the rewards you felt you deserved were bestowed upon another.
