I love my favorite Morgan pony, Carrie. She's the only horse I've ever had a true connection with. But she's a total brat for everyone except me, and the other riders, even my instructor, makes fun of her. They're going to send her away because nobody else rides her. They act like they don't care and they've given up on her. And what's worse is that the other girls at my barn don't like me because I like Carrie so much. I've tried ignoring their rude remarks, but I get so lonely at the barn and I don't want to switch barns because I'm learning a lot. My best friend just started riding, and she rode Carrie. But Carrie was testing her to see what she could get away with, so she was being a brat. So my friend started making fun of her, too! It was so hurtful. I got on Carrie, and she was fine for me! But no matter what I say, people still make fun of my special mare. I don't want her to leave. Any advice from fellow horselovers?

I have a gelding paint named Levi and i love him more than anything. He has always been awesome for me and I am a pretty good rider, but I have seen him do much worse for much better riders. Sometimes he wont even move for other people. I dont know what it is but I think some riders feel differently than others and even if you dont notice the horse does. Maybe you are gentle on her or dont confuse her or maybe she can just tell that you love her. Either way I realize how special it is to have that kind of a bond with a horse and I hope you find a way to keep her at your barn. Maybe you could explain your situation to the owners or do something to show them how much you are willing to do to keep her with you. If people are saying bad things about her you can let them know theyre being bitchy without making everyone hate you. Just defend her if you want her but dont insult them unless you really dont care what they think. If theyre not physically harming her she proboblay doesnt even know about it and it may even make her closer to you.

You aren't going to be able to stop them from selling Carrie. What if you talk to your parents about possibly leasing or buying her if you guys connect well. Some horses like only certain personalities or some are 1 person horses. For the first 4 years that I had my mare, no one else could ride her, or she would buck them off. She is 17.2h, so that was a pretty long fall. I am constantly picked on for having my horse. She is a full draft (pinto colored) and I do dressage with her (currently first level). I get laughed at with every show I go to, but then I get satisfaction when I usually beat them.
As for the mean girls- the only thing you can do is ignore their comments and be nice to them. It sounds like you are younger, so until they grow up, they will continue to be mean for some stupid reason. I wish I could offer some other advice, but I don't think it will work until they grow up. Just keep trying, see if there are some other girls you can talk to. There may be one or two girls in there just following the ringleader, and are nice when the leader is not around.
Good luck

I've been in a similar situation twice with a horse named Happy and even currently with a horse named Grace. I bonded with these two horses immediately. I met Happy before Grace and we got on so well. She got on great with me but not with anyone else so she was also teased. We offered to buy her but the seller sold her to someone who never visits her but i at least still get to see her (she's still at my stables). Grace doesn't really act up with anybody but she isn't a perfect jumper (only started jumping in june) so other jumper orientated riders think she's inferior. But I love them both so who cares.
who cares what others think. If you love Carrie you love her and who blames her for not being well behaved with others if they treat her so badly. Maybe you should buy or lease her. If you can't afford that the best I you can do is keep in contact with the buyers and ask if you can visit her then maybe one day you'll have her back.

Well, at my barn there's one horse I love soooo much! I trust him with my life, and I could never imagine anything coming between us. The problem is: EVERYONE loves him. Doesn't sound like a problem, right? Well everyone else wants to feed him. THEY want to groom him, ride him, take him out to graze. He's a very popular horse. Think of it this way; the bright side. You have your horse all to yourself, and you have a strong bond no one could ever break. Now you supply loads of love, and your horse happily returns it.

My first horse was that way, and nobody but me really liked him..However, he and I just hit it off..It was like magic..
Perhaps your parents could subsidize Carrie's boarding so the stable would keep her for you? Or even just buy her outright, like on payments..talk to your parents, and get them to see what they can do.. I know it will break your heart of they send her away, to who knows where, so see if your parents or other family members would be willing to help..

It seems like you have a connection with Carrie, you must treat her differently than the others and and she trust you, see if they will sell you the pony and ignore what others think....

If you can't buy Carrie. Ask about a lease contract. Cheaper and you'll be able to ride her basically like she's yours. Worth a try good luck

Sounds like you spoiled your riding horse to the point where she showed favoritism to you over anyone else, thus making her a nuisance to everyone else. Horses pick up any habits that you have, or any habits that you let them get by with. Either way, it's not you're friend's fault Carrie turned out to be a spoiled pet.
