Need to find a fle created by an individual over six months ago...as I have no idea where I filed it. I recall it be a MS PowerPoint document and I know who created it.

Tx-a-bunch.

Click on Start, Search, Files and Folders, then All files and folders. In the top blank put *.ppt and click on Search. Wait while it searches. If you have more than powerpoint file, it will find them all. This won't give you the creator's name, but it will locate the file, if it's still on the hard drive. From there you can look at the file's creation date, and that should identify it for you.

There is an option with Power point and other Office documents where you can add a owner/creator. But you have to do it manually, it is not added by default. So odds are the information is not there.

So about the best you can do is search for all ppt files (*.ppt) and then sort by date. Look for the ones from six months ago.

Click Start>Search>All Files and Folders>click on more advanced options and check Search Hidden Files and Folders. Now just type in what information you have about the file.
