Geneva, Switzerland is fun, because it is super international (thanks to the United Nations being based there and tons of other international organizations). It is fun as a college student. It is also incredibly centrally located on the continent so you can travel to lots of places from there. Also, if you don't speak French, it's not a huge problem, since there are so many diplomatic people in town, most speak English.

almost everywhere in mid and western europe is good. the eastern is not really developed, and their languages are slavic: really difficult. France is a good place for studing in but there are other options. Austria is one of the best, italy too, but I do not think that they like americans, they think americans are a bit crazy in they way of life.....aaanyways, you might choose between countries. do not forget about the language they speak, and to know something about the country you are going to, or you might have somebody you know somewhere.

I studied abroad in Innsbruck, Austria. Not only were the academics totally legit and no a waste of my time but the scenery is BEAUTIFUL. This part of Austria is nestled in the Alps and there is plenty of time to enjoy Neuschwanstein, Prague, Berlin, Venice, and definitely Amsterdam.

I went to Germany this summer. I didn't feel that the sentiment towards Americans was negative, like it might be in France. I really got a good feel for the culture, and it was very enriching. My most important advice is to stay in a small town, wherever you decide to go. You get a better cultural experience than in the larger, very international cities (ie for me it was Frankfurt). Good luck and enjoy it - it was the best summer of my life!

i studied in greece. it was nice, but it was hard to get in and out of the country to travel around europe for a cheap price. getting cheap flights in and out of england, germany, spain, france, and several other countries were plentiful, though.

Leipzig, Germany is hands down the sweetest place i've been. i spent a month there in '05 and it was just surreal.
my cousin spent a month in Vienna, Austria, and i've heard only good things. if you like music go there.
