Nope, you can't download Word, but you can download OpenOffice for free. It's an excellent open-source (read: free) office suite that does everything Microsoft Office does.

You can not (legally) download a copy of Word without paying for it.
BUT you already have a word processing program on your computer that will let you write simple things like a letter. Look on the Start menu, under (all) programs and under accessories. You will find Wordpad.
Run Wordpad and you will be able to write your letter.

Stik is right. Open Office is the next best thing to word if you need to download something free and legal. Just make sure you save your letter as a Word document so it's compatable with Word users (last time I used Open Office a couple of years ago its defult was it's own file format)

Presuming you're on a Windows PC, if all you need to do is write a letter, you may as well use Wordpad. It'll already be installed on your PC as part of Windows.
(Am I paranoid for thinking this is Bill Gates posting to catch out those who'd offer cracked versions of Office? Maybe.)

No. Try using OpenOffice.org
It's free and you can do most everything MS Office can.
Besides. If you are on a PC you probably have Windows which has Notepad or Wordpad. They will do letters just fine.

No, but you can try a free program such as Open Office. It has a word document editor that is on par with Microsoft Word, and FREE.

You have to purchase Microsoft Office (within which Word is included) and it's a hefty sum of money...
