Credit to Martin O'Neill for bringing Villa up to where they are right now. I remember last year being a disaster for Villa, so O'Neill's definitely had a positive affect on the club. That said, I don't think he's a miracle worker. Villa will have to work very hard and have some luck if they are to keep their current position in the league - injuries could be key, especially since Villa have such a thin squad. I think realistically, Villa will finish just off the UEFA cup spots...around 7th or 8th. It will show that there's been a lot of progress just in 1 year under O'Neill, and I think he's a signing or 2 away from making Villa a club on par with Spurs as the 'best of the rest.'
The key to Villa's season, for me, is Milan Baros. He hasn't done much this term, but I think if O'Neill can manage to get the best out of Baros, he can have an important role to play in helping to push Villa as far as they can go. Baros still has very good pace, can be explosive, and can come up with important goals - something Villa need at the moment.
